Rheumatic Manifestations of HIV/AIDS
Musculoskeletal complaints affect roughly half to two-thirds of people living with HIV, at any stage and sometimes before the diagnosis is made. This review sorts the picture by mechanism and by tissue: the joint syndromes that mimic RA, spondyloarthritis without HLA-B27, myositis, vasculitis by vessel size, DILS and IRIS, and the infections that complicate advanced disease. The treatment advice is gated on CD4 count and viral control, and it rests mostly on case reports and small series.
